This statement is the result of a consultation with everyone involved with our school (parents, pupils, teachers, and governors). It represents what we wish to achieve as a school.
Widening Horizons – We provide our children with a wide range of practical activities and opportunities which broaden their experience of the world. We embrace new technologies and ideas. These rich contexts for learning raise aspirations and ambition amongst our pupils.
Reaching Our Potential – Everyone deserves the opportunity to show their very best. Through high expectation, we support and challenge our children in achieving this, be it in academic subjects or in sport and creativity.
Respecting the World and Each Other – The environment is very much at the front of our thoughts and particularly the children’s. We aim to look after the planet by recycling, composting and striving to reduce our energy use. We respect one another and build an understanding of other people’s views, beliefs, cultures and religions.
Healthy, Happy and Positive – From fruit snacks to a wide range of sporting activities, we promote good health within the school. We believe that everyone works and learns better when they are happy and as a result, we place the highest level of importance on enjoyment. Finally: be positive! There are many challenges and hurdles to overcome, but with a positive and resilient approach, we believe we can move forward together.
A Learning Community – Schools are about children developing new skills, knowledge and attitudes to prepare them for later life. We believe that our school should also be a learning centre for our parents, teachers and the community to learn and develop too. We hold regular workshops and open events for parents; we place staff’s professional development and progression at the heart of our work; and we hold regular learning and charity events for and with the community.

We believe in a society which has a respect for the law, values democracy, promotes individual liberty, and shows a mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Our community is actively engaged in the election of Governors and School Council members and shows an active interest in the national and international democratic process. Our children debate and agree on the rules and guidelines which we put into place within school. They reflect upon the rewards and sanctions which build respect for the law. Our community respects the freedom of our children, and others, to have their own views and opinions about life and society. We are actively encouraged to put forward our views but challenge those who discriminate against others. We actively engage in a range of different religions and beliefs in order to build an understanding of others. These beliefs are illustrated in the excellent behaviour, mature attitudes and respectful nature of the children within our care.
