Welcome to Filey Junior School
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the website of Filey Junior School.
There is something very special about our school and we are incredibly proud of our children. The school has a dedicated team that works hard to reach high standards in everything we do and this is further embedded through our successful relationships with our families, parents and carers, the local community and governors. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home, school and our community and we regard you all as active partners in your child’s education and value your interest and support.
With our unique and bespoke approach to the curriculum, every child’s learning is at the heart of everything we do here at Filey Juniors. In each year group, we have a specialist teaching programme, where teachers deliver high-quality learning in their respective lessons. Furthermore, we are proud to say that we are a Google School and every child receives a Chromebook on entry to the school to utilise during their learning.
Filey Junior School is a vibrant school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve their potential, we encourage them to have high expectations of what they can achieve and become. We are passionate about the physical and mental health and wellbeing of our children. The children are at the heart of every decision we make; we endeavour to ensure that they are happy, feel safe and become confident, independent and resilient learners. We believe that everyone in school should enjoy their learning and feel proud of their achievements. We strive to recognise achievement in all areas and not simply those that can be measured by data, graphs and charts. We are committed to providing a stimulating and motivating learning environment and a curriculum which gives equal value to developing children’s academic, social, physical and spiritual understanding. We provide a wide range of experiences and are passionate about taking learning beyond the classroom. Through fostering a lifelong love of learning, we hope to help our pupils live full and happy lives, developing skills, values and qualities that prepare them for life in modern Britain and beyond.
With Filey being a coastal town, we regularly utilise our locality to develop our learning and understanding of the world around us and have numerous opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. With our extensive grounds, we are able to offer a great provision for our children during their breaktimes: biking, skateboarding, Lego, reading sheds, arts shed, dance club and many other wonderful activities.
We hope that this website will give you as much information as possible about our school and the many activities that our children enjoy through our curriculum and our extra-curricular activities. It will grow over time as we add more information, but it can never replace the first-hand experience of coming to visit us. We are proud to share our school with you and look forward to welcoming you.
